Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
Galatians 6:2

We deal with many challenges throughout our lives and typically we do so with the help of family and friends. For most situations, that works well. But sometimes an event, a loss, is so impactful, our normal strategies and relationships aren’t enough. Sometimes, it takes more or longer than family and friends can give. It could be the death of a loved one, a divorce, a major illness or some other kind of serious struggle.

Soul Care offers a proven and effective way to provide high-quality, one-to-one, Christ-centered care to people in the congregation and the community experiencing life difficulties.

Who can be helped by Soul Care?

Soul Care ministers provide care to individuals (referred to as care receivers) facing difficult times in life—grief, cancer, divorce, financial difficulties, hospitalization, chronic illness, marital struggles, job loss, disability, a spiritual crisis, or other life struggles.

Am I assured of confidentiality?

Conversations with a Soul Care minister are kept completely confidential. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of Soul Care, ensuring that anything you share remains private and is not discussed with others. Only you, your Soul Care minister and the Soul Care Director will know you are under care.

How can I get care from a Stephen Minister?

Any adult who is hurting and in need of Christian care can seek a Soul Care Minister. It is not necessary to be member of Mission Grove Church to have a Soul Care minister. If you would like to discuss receiving care, please email pgedzyk@missiongrovechurch.org.

Further Information on Soul Care

Soul Care ministers are lay congregation members who are trained through a custom program combining both a spiritual and psychological context to provide one-to-one care to those experiencing a difficult time in life. Soul Care ministers come from all walks of life, but they all share a passion for bringing Christ’s love and care to people during a time of need.

If you are interested in exploring the possibility of becoming a Soul Care minister (care giver), please email pgedzyk@missiongrovechurch.org to set up a meeting to learn more about the training process.
